Expansion for high-channel-count Altitude32 systems
Trinnov Altitude48ext is an expansion unit for Altitude32, designed for home theater systems that require more than 32 channels and extended management of loudspeakers and subwoofers.
Paired with an Altitude32 equipped with the 48-channel option, it allows 48 discrete outputs and up to 64 processing channels to be used. It integrates 16 AES/EBU digital inputs, up to 32 balanced analog outputs and a 64-bit floating-point processing platform. Product code THOM003687.

From 48 discrete to 64 processed channels
Altitude48ext works with Altitude32 when configurations beyond 32 outputs are required. Altitude32 can use 32 analog outputs and 16 AES digital outputs simultaneously, reaching 48 discrete channels; the extension adds further processing capacity for a total of up to 64 channels.
Digital inputs and analog outputs
The unit provides 16 channels of digital input on one DB25 connector and 32 balanced analog outputs on four DB25 connectors with TASCAM wiring. It also includes 8 balanced XLR inputs and 8 balanced XLR outputs, with a +18 dBu reference level at 0 dBFS.
Processing for crossovers and bass management
Altitude48ext does more than digital-to-analog conversion: its 64-bit Intel multicore platform can handle calibrated active crossovers, bass management, and FIR and third-octave equalization. The additional channels can also be used for multi-amplified systems and extended groups of subwoofers.
Conversion and audio performance
The A/D and D/A converters operate at 24-bit/48 kHz. The stated signal-to-noise ratio is 119 dB A-weighted on the A/D path and 118 dB A-weighted on the D/A path; the architecture uses separate power supplies for the audio section and the processing section.
Integration with Altitude32
The combination is intended for private theaters with high loudspeaker counts, including configurations capable of using the Dolby Atmos 24.1.10 layout while leaving further resources for bass management, multi-amplification and Remapping. Calibration remains integrated into the Altitude platform workflow.
Power, dimensions and installation
Power requirement is 240 V AC at 50-60 Hz, with a 130 V AC option, and stated consumption is 90 W. The 2RU chassis measures 442 x 102 x 438 mm, weighs 10.2 kg and is supplied with rack ears; stated shipping weight is 15 kg.
