Flagship technologies in a two-way standmount speaker
NS-3000 is a Yamaha two-way speaker with a 16 cm woofer, ZYLON™ drive units, R.S. structure and a crossover using Mundorf components. It is sold individually — two units are required for a stereo pair.
The design transfers many solutions developed for NS-5000 into a standmount format. Woofer and tweeter use ZYLON™ for tonal continuity, while bracing, R.S. chambers and an acoustic absorber control cabinet and driver resonances. The crossover uses selected components and brass terminals to preserve the signal through to the drive units.

ZYLON™ drive units
Woofer and tweeter use ZYLON™ to maintain high propagation speed and a consistent tonal character between the two ways. Using the same base material reduces contrast between the low-mid and high-frequency ranges, making the transition around the crossover frequency less perceptible as a change of source.
Tweeter and R.S. structure
The tweeter derives from the NS-5000 design and uses an R.S. (Resonance Suppression) structure on its rear. The duct is designed to cancel resonance that can develop in the rear cavity of the diaphragm, preventing this energy from returning to the membrane and masking finer high-frequency nuances.
Acoustic absorber
The absorber dedicated to NS-3000 reduces standing waves inside the cabinet without filling the volume with large quantities of sound-absorbing material. Yamaha therefore aims to control internal colouration while keeping more signal energy intact, especially through transients and passages with large dynamic variation.
Cabinet and bracing
The position of the internal bracing is defined through FEM analysis and measurements with laser vibrometers. The design identifies points where cabinet surfaces store or release energy and intervenes selectively, reducing box ringing without indiscriminately stiffening the entire enclosure.
Crossover and terminals
The crossover uses selected components, including a Mundorf MCap® SUPREME EVO capacitor and a large woofer coil. Pure brass terminals provide secure tightening and complete an electrical path designed to limit losses between amplifier and loudspeaker drive units.

This file refers to the unit intended for the left channel. NS-3000 is the same physical model for both channels: Yamaha sells it individually — two units are required for a complete stereo pair.
