Three-way floorstander with dual PMD woofers and waveguides
NS-777 is a Yamaha three-way, four-driver floorstanding speaker with dual 20 cm PMD woofers, a 13 cm midrange, aluminium tweeter and waveguides.
The EF Series bass-reflex cabinet uses an elliptical shape and Piano Black finish, while waveguides on the tweeter and midrange are designed to control dispersion in the domestic environment. The woofers use PMD diaphragms and internal Monster Cable wiring connects the crossover to the drive units; the terminals also support bi-wiring.

Dual PMD woofers
The two 20 cm woofers use PMD cones, a polymer-injected mica composite developed to combine rigidity and lightness. The surface is intended to move like a piston within its assigned range without introducing excessive flexing, while the dual-woofer configuration increases the radiating area available at low frequencies.
Waveguides
The midrange and tweeter are mounted with waveguides that control dispersion and direct a greater proportion of energy towards the listening area. Yamaha develops this geometry for domestic rooms, where walls and furnishings create early reflections that can alter the perception of imaging and tonal balance.
Tweeter and high frequencies
The 2.5 cm aluminium-dome tweeter extends the declared response to 35 kHz and is dedicated to the upper frequencies. The waveguide works with the dome to make the transition to the midrange more uniform and keep dispersion more controlled than with a unit mounted directly on the baffle.
Wiring and bi-wiring
The internal connection between crossover and drive units uses Monster Cable. Rear terminals support bi-wiring, electrically separating crossover sections when the amplifier and cabling allow it; conventional connection with a single cable per speaker naturally remains possible.
Power and sensitivity
NS-777 specifies 100 W rated and 250 W maximum input power, with 6-ohm impedance and sensitivity of 89 dB/2.83 V/1 m. These figures help assess amplifier matching without turning the description into a specification table: the speaker is intended for systems capable of exploiting its dynamics.
Cabinet and finish
The cabinet measures 1,100 mm in height and weighs 24.4 kg per unit. The elliptical EF Series shape reduces the presence of large parallel surfaces, while the Piano Black finish recalls more traditional Yamaha components, combining substantial room presence with a relatively understated visual approach.
