A 15-inch custom-install subwoofer with dedicated external electronics
MK Sound C15S with VA500 Blue Edition combines a sealed passive 15-inch subwoofer and an external Class D amplifier rated at 500 W RMS / 800 W peak.
C15S is designed for custom cinema rooms, behind-screen installations and positions where a large driver is required with limited depth. The cabinet measures 72.5 x 49.8 x 29.8 cm and works with the dedicated VA500 Blue amplifier, which can be installed separately in the equipment rack.
Key features
- 15-inch stiff paper-pulp woofer.
- Sealed cabinet only 298 mm deep.
- 22-200 Hz ±3 dB response.
- Driver handling: 500 W rated / 800 W long-term.
- VA500 Blue: 500 W RMS / 800 W peak Class D.
- Three Room Adaptation settings.
- RCA line-level input/output and 60-200 Hz crossover.
- Bass Brace brackets and stacking couplers included.
Design and drivers
The 15-inch driver uses a stiff paper-pulp cone with a reinforced glass-fibre dust cap. The sealed cabinet uses 1-inch MDF with internal bracing, allowing the large radiating area to work with lower unwanted vibration at the sound-pressure levels demanded by the LFE channel.
Amplification and performance
VA500 Blue delivers 500 W RMS and 800 W peak from a Class D module. Dynamic headroom control monitors the signal to limit audible clipping while preserving dynamic range; separating amplifier and cabinet also simplifies cooling, adjustment and servicing in a custom installation.
System integration
Rated response is 22-200 Hz ±3 dB with roll-off at 20 Hz. Three Room Adaptation curves compensate for boundary gain from centre-wall, near-corner or corner placement, making behaviour more predictable in a dedicated room.
Controls and connections
The amplifier provides left/right RCA inputs and outputs, volume adjustment, continuous phase and a 60-200 Hz crossover. Its 1U format supports 19-inch rack mounting, leaving C15S hidden behind the screen or structure while the electronics remain accessible.
Construction and installation
C15S weighs 32.5 kg and includes hardware for floor fixing and stacking multiple cabinets. The solution therefore supports both single-sub use and professional multi-sub installations where shallow depth and secure mechanical fixing are important.
