The middle DB model uses two opposed 250 mm drivers.
DB2D retains a balanced layout in a smaller enclosure than DB1D.
The single Bowers & Wilkins DB2D uses two 250 mm Aerofoil woofers facing opposite directions. Their mechanical forces counteract one another to limit cabinet vibration. Its cones are smaller than DB1D's 300 mm units but larger than DB3D's 200 mm units, placing it between those two dual-driver formats.

Signal and setup
The digital preamplifier includes Dynamic EQ and setup through an app, with Bluetooth LE for control. Two XLR and two RCA connections take the audio signal. Two 12 V triggers and a 9-pin RS-232 port provide further integration options. This is not a Bluetooth subwoofer for direct music streaming from a phone.
A defined footprint
The enclosure is 430 × 377 × 360 mm and weighs 36 kg. Against DB1D it saves 30 mm in height, 52 mm in width and 50 mm in depth. That difference can matter beside furniture or a walkway, although both side-facing drivers still need clear space. Allow cable access and a platform that can support the weight.
The specified response is 10-350 Hz at -3 dB relative to 100 Hz and 8.5-500 Hz at -6 dB, the same limits listed for DB1D and DB3D. This does not mean the three bodies behave identically in a room: cone diameter and physical size differ. DB4S is another option with one front driver, retaining app setup and DB Series connections but using a single 250 mm woofer. XLR can serve a balanced signal path if the upstream processor provides it, while RCA covers an unbalanced connection. The triggers and RS-232 concern integration and control rather than extra audio channels. App setup and Dynamic EQ assist tuning after the positions of the two active sides have been considered. The product page does not give an amplifier wattage for DB2D, so matching should be based on its stated drivers, dimensions and connections instead. The 36 kg enclosure is also a practical difference from DB3D when planning handling and placement in a finished room.
