Reference AVENTAGE for large-scale home cinema
RX-A8A is Yamaha's 11.2-channel AVENTAGE AV receiver for advanced home cinema systems, with immersive processing, next-generation HDMI and YPAO™ calibration.
The AVENTAGE design combines multichannel amplification, a reinforced mechanical construction and a high-end digital section. RX-A8A drives eleven amplified channels and two subwoofers, integrates multi-zone functions and brings video sources, streaming and network audio together in a single component.
Key features
- 11.2 channels with 150 W per channel into 8 ohms, measured with two channels driven.
- Seven HDMI inputs and three outputs, up to 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz.
- Dolby Atmos®, DTS:X®, AURO-3D® and CINEMA DSP HD3.
- Surround:AI™ analyses scenes and adapts the sound field in real time.
- YPAO™ R.S.C. with multipoint measurement, Precision EQ and 3D measurement.
- ESS SABRE ES9026PRO and ES9007S DACs for digital conversion.
- MusicCast, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for streaming and multi-room audio.
- XLR inputs and Zone 2, Zone 3 and Zone 4 management.
AVENTAGE architecture
RX-A8A uses a reinforced chassis, a double-bottom construction and solutions derived from Yamaha's higher-end electronics. The construction limits vibrations generated by the transformer and power stages and keeps sensitive areas separated, with the aim of preserving dynamics and precision during the most complex passages.
Surround:AI™ and immersive formats
Dolby Atmos®, DTS:X® and AURO-3D® are joined by CINEMA DSP HD3 and Surround:AI™. The latter recognises dialogue, music, ambient effects and action scenes, then adjusts DSP processing in real time so the sound field can adapt to the content without requiring continual manual correction.
YPAO™ calibration
YPAO™ R.S.C. measures the room and addresses the effects of reflections, while multipoint and 3D measurement take the actual speaker layout into account. Precision EQ completes the calibration with finer correction, going beyond the simple adjustment of individual channel levels and distances.
HDMI, video and gaming
The HDMI section provides seven inputs and three outputs with signals up to 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz, as well as VRR and ALLM for compatible gaming sources. eARC allows audio from the television to be returned to the AV receiver through the same HDMI connection used for video.
Conversion and signal path
Digital conversion uses ESS SABRE ES9026PRO and ES9007S DACs. The internal layout favours short paths, low-impedance connections and careful separation between circuits, while selected components support the dynamic response and signal-to-noise ratio of the complete chain.
MusicCast and multi-zone
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2 and MusicCast allow network content and streaming services to be played and distributed to other compatible devices. Zone 2, Zone 3 and Zone 4 extend use beyond the main room, while the XLR inputs provide balanced connection for dedicated sources.
