An FM, DAB/DAB+ and internet radio tuner, connected over Wi-Fi, to add to an existing hi-fi system: analogue RCA output, coaxial and optical digital outputs, a 6.3 mm headphone socket and a remote handset.
Tuner Box S3 DAB+: reception and outputs
The Tuner Box S3 DAB+ gathers three ways of listening to radio in a single S3 series unit: frequency modulation, DAB and DAB+ digital broadcasting, and stations from around the globe carried over the internet, reached through the home Wi-Fi network. It is operated from the front-panel keys or from the supplied handset, and favourite stations can be stored and recalled directly from the remote.
There are several routes into the system. The analogue RCA output goes to a line input on the amplifier; the digital outputs, one coaxial and one optical, carry the signal to an outboard converter. Anyone who wants to listen alone can turn to the internal headphone amplifier, with a 6.3 mm socket and 75 mW per channel into 32 ohms.
The sound can be adjusted with the internal equaliser, either by picking from ready-made curves or by working manually on five bands. Station information appears on an OLED display. The 9 V power supply comes in the box, and in standby the tuner draws less than 1 W.
