Speaker Box 10 E Carbon: a slim column
Standing 935 mm tall and only 140 wide, this Speaker Box 10 E Carbon moves the formula of the bookshelf models into a column cabinet. It remains a two-way layout: a 1 inch silk dome and two 4 inch mid-woofers with glass-fibre and carbon diaphragms, housed in a rigid MDF enclosure with the reflex port at the back.
The extra volume tells in the bass: stated response starts at 48 Hz and reaches 20 kHz, with 87 dB sensitivity into 4 ohms. Pro-Ject speaks of a natural, broad and deep image, of voices and instruments placed precisely, and of an open, agreeable timbre that can be enjoyed for hours without tiring.
The baffle shows no screws and the supplied grilles fix with magnets, so the column looks clean with or without protection; it comes in several finishes. The terminals are gold-plated and accept banana plugs. Ten watts a channel are enough; the maker suggests the MaiA S3 or the amplifiers of the DS3 series.
