Classic style, evolved performance
Rega Planar 6 RS combines a metal-skinned Tancast 8 plinth, RB880 tonearm, twin Reference EBLT belts and matched Neo PSU MK2.
The Planar 6 RS Edition is a Rega Special version that brings several elements developed for the Planar 8 to the classic Planar 6 form. The ultra-lightweight plinth uses a Tancast 8 core with HPL laminate and brushed aluminium metal skin. The tonearm is upgraded to the RB880, while the drive system uses a CNC-machined twin pulley with two Reference EBLT belts and the 24 V synchronous motor is adjusted together with the dedicated Neo PSU MK2. The platter is dual-layer Optiwhite float glass.

RS plinth and Double Brace
The structure takes the Tancast 8 foam core of Planar 6 and adds a high-rigidity HPL skin completed by a metal aluminium layer. Double Brace locally stiffens the connection between the tonearm support and central bearing while leaving the rest of the chassis as light as possible. The result is a platform designed to limit the storage and transfer of mechanical energy without resorting to a massive plinth.
RB880 tonearm
The RB880 uses an aluminium vertical housing, steel spindle and bush components, and bearing assemblies selected and matched by hand. The arm tube is designed to distribute mass and reduce potential resonance points, while the low-capacitance phono wiring is terminated with high-quality connectors. Moving to the RB880 brings the Planar 6 RS platform closer to the solution used on the Planar 8.
Twin drive and 24 V motor
The low-noise 24 V synchronous motor is fitted with a CNC-machined twin aluminium pulley that drives the sub-platter through two Reference EBLT belts. Each motor is adjusted and matched to the Neo PSU MK2, which provides electronic speed change, fine adjustment and a vibration-control circuit. This architecture is intended to improve rotational accuracy and drive-system stability.
Platter and central system
The dual-layer Optiwhite platter concentrates useful rotational mass without weighing down the chassis. The aluminium sub-platter and central bearing work with the twin-belt drive to maintain consistent speed. The internal lightweight structure and local reinforcement maintain a rigid geometric reference between the spindle and tonearm during playback.
Supplied accessories
Planar 6 RS includes Neo PSU MK2 matched to the motor, a factory-fitted cartridge and a smoked dust cover.
