The XR13 is the larger active subwoofer in the XR series: sealed cabinet, 330 mm ultra-long-throw driver, Class-D amplifier, app control and ARC Genesis correction with microphone, suited to big listening rooms and home cinemas.
XR13: how it is built
The XR13 takes the XR approach to its fullest, namely drawing reference-grade performance from a sealed and fairly compact subwoofer, in a carefully finished cabinet that slips easily into a furnished room. Its 330 mm driver has a one-piece CARBON-X cone, Trilinear suspension and a ridged ART surround; the 2-inch voice coil is built to withstand high temperatures. Compared with the smaller model the radiating area rises to 0.06 m² and the volume of air displaced doubles, reaching 6 litres.
The Cascade-Fusion internal structure stiffens the walls of the sealed cabinet, and Shock-Mount fixing keeps vibration away from the parts. On axis the response runs from 17 to 140 Hz within ±3 dB and the DIN lower limit is 12 Hz, figures that make it suitable for the deepest effects in film soundtracks too. The internal Class-D amplifier provides automatic switch-on and a trigger input; Paradigm has not yet published its output because the measurements are being redone.
The panel carries stereo or mono RCA inputs, an RCA for the LFE channel, a balanced XLR for LFE and high-level inputs for left and right. Switchable polarity, phase variable between 0° and 180° and full management from the smartphone app make fine-tuning simpler; ARC Genesis correction uses the supplied microphone to measure the room and correct the response. The model is offered in several finishes.
