The Premier 620C V2 is the largest centre speaker in the Premier V2 range: a three-way with a coaxial tweeter and midrange, two 177 mm Carbon-X woofers and two passive radiators of the same size, built for dialogue in a home cinema system.
Premier 620C V2: three ways for the centre channel
The 620C V2 is a centre speaker of serious size: 104.1 cm wide, 22.6 cm high and 34.8 cm deep, at 21.8 kg. The cabinet has no reflex ports: in place of conventional tuning there are two 177 mm passive radiators, which help the two active woofers take bass extension down to 33 Hz (DIN). Quoted on-axis response runs from 49 Hz to 23 kHz within ±3 dB and reaches 20 kHz at 30° off axis.
Voices and treble come from a single coaxial unit: the 25 mm tweeter, with AL-MAC ceramic dome, OSW oblate-spheroid waveguide, perforated PPA lens and ferrofluid, sits at the centre of the 152 mm midrange and its AL-MAG aluminium and magnesium cone. The midrange carries a 51 mm multi-layer high-temperature voice coil on an Apical former and the Dual-Sync continuous-flux motor, a patented design. Woofers and passive radiators share one-piece, very long-throw Carbon-X cones with third-generation ART and the Vertical Mounting System; the woofers use 25 mm coils on vented Apical formers.
The second-order electro-acoustic crossover hands over at 750 Hz between woofers and midrange and at 1.7 kHz between midrange and tweeter. Sensitivity is 93 dB in room and 90 dB anechoic, into an 8 ohm compatible load. Paradigm quotes amplifiers of 15 to 180 W and a maximum input power of 120 W, figures in keeping with the floorstanding speakers of the same series that the 620C V2 is meant to sit between.
