The CI Pro P80-IW v2 is the largest two-way wall model in the range: a 203 mm woofer and a 25 mm tweeter in a rectangular frame, for those who want bass reaching 30 Hz from a concealed speaker.
CI Pro P80-IW v2: drivers and frame
Compared with its smaller sibling, the P65-IW, the P80-IW carries a 203 mm woofer and gains in bass and power: the on-axis response spans 55 Hz to 22 kHz, the stated extension goes down to 30 Hz and suitable amplifiers range between 15 and 150 W, with a 100 W input maximum. The wall opening is 293 x 205 mm and the depth required stays at 86 mm. Like the whole CI Pro range it is built in Canada, and it has a die-cast aluminium baffle.
The woofer cone is CARBON-X, a material Paradigm employs for its stiffness joined to low weight and for its consistency from one sample to the next; the long-throw voice coil reduces power compression. The patented ART surround is over-moulded around the cone and permits longer travel. Up top plays an AL-MAC tweeter, a mix of aluminium, magnesium and ceramic with anti-resonant behaviour, behind the perforated PPA lens and with the RED profile keeping diffraction in check.
Baffle and basket are kept apart by the Shock-Mount system, which stops vibration passing from one to the other and leaves the drive units free to work. The die-cast basket with built-in heat sink sheds the heat of the voice coil. At the rear is the flat polycarbonate shield, at the front the frameless micro-perforated grille, magnetic and paintable. Recessed screw holes and spring terminals with a wide opening make the job on site simpler.
