A two-way ceiling speaker whose 165 mm woofer and 19 mm tweeter are mounted at a 30° tilt to aim the sound at the listener. Offered as a pair, it is intended for the front or surround channels of a hidden home cinema.
CI Home H65-A v2: sound that is aimed
On the CI Home H65-A v2, woofer and tweeter do not face the floor: they sit on a panel tilted 30° from the ceiling, the arrangement Paradigm calls 30°-Angled Guided Soundfield. At installation you decide where the sound points, and because both drivers stay fixed to their panel the dispersion relationship between them does not change. Paradigm suggests it for front duty and for surround or rear use in a home cinema system. The tilt needs more room: a 263 mm opening and no less than 118 mm of depth.
The figures are those of a well-sorted 165 mm two-way: ±2 dB between 70 Hz and 20 kHz on axis, extension to 55 Hz, 89 dB room sensitivity and recommended amplifiers of 15 to 80 W, with the crossover at 2.5 kHz. The tweeter is protected by the perforated PPA lens, which doubles as a phase plug and filters out-of-phase frequencies, and is ferrofluid damped. The woofer cone is mineral-loaded polypropylene with an oversized ferrite magnet.
Installation relies on the features shared across the series: recessed screw holes that give the drill something to rest in, Torx-guided ABS clamps that keep the bit from slipping and stiffen the area around the opening. The connection terminals have a wide passage for the cable. The frameless micro-perforated grille is magnetic and paintable, and it hides the tilt of the drivers completely.
