CI Home H55-IW v2: how it is made
The CI Home H55-IW v2 is a small-footprint rectangular in-wall: the opening measures 233 x 156 mm and it weighs 1.2 kg, so it fits even in thin stud walls or between closely spaced uprights. With its 139 mm woofer the on-axis response runs between 75 Hz and 20 kHz within ±2 dB, bass extension touches 60 Hz and room sensitivity is 88 dB. It is a good choice for bedrooms, studies and surround duty, perhaps with a subwoofer alongside when more weight is wanted.
The two ways cross over at 2.5 kHz. The dome tweeter sits behind the PPA lens, a perforated screen that shields it from knocks while correcting phase, letting through only what arrives in phase: the treble gains extension, evenness and level, and 30° off axis the response holds up to 18 kHz. Cooling is by ferrofluid. The woofer cone is polypropylene with mineral filler, pushed by a generously sized ferrite magnet.
The ABS frame is fixed with rigid clamps of the same material, which close the board between two surfaces and damp vibration around the aperture. The screws are housed in recessed seats, with a Torx guide against bit slip. The rectangular micro-perforated grille has no frame, is held by neodymium magnets and can be painted to match the wall; the terminals accept banana plugs, pins or stripped wire.
