A three-way in-wall LCR loudspeaker with a built-in enclosure: a coaxial AL-MAC and AL-MAG tweeter/midrange unit, two 165 mm woofers and two passive radiators, for the front channels of a dedicated cinema room.
CI Elite E5-LCR v2: the coaxial and the woofers
In the CI Elite E5-LCR v2 midrange and treble come from a single point: the 25 mm AL-MAC dome tweeter, with its OSW waveguide and PPA lens, sits at the centre of a 152 mm AL-MAG midrange, and the two share the Dual-Sync continuous-flux magnet system. Below 450 Hz two 165 mm AL-MAG woofers take over, flanked by two passive radiators of matching size; midrange and tweeter meet at 3 kHz. In-room sensitivity is 94 dB and on-axis response runs from 82 Hz to 22 kHz within ±3 dB.
Everything is housed in a shallow acoustic cabinet that forms part of the speaker and needs 98 mm inside the wall. The closed box shelters the components, reduces the sound carried into adjoining rooms and guarantees the same behaviour in every installation. The baffle is machined aluminium and the screen compensation mode allows the speaker to go behind a micro-perforated screen without losing acoustic transparency.
The woofers use the ART surround, moulded onto the cone, which Paradigm says yields 3 dB more clean output than a conventional surround, and heat-resistant 38 mm voice coils; the midrange has a 51 mm multi-layer coil. The die-cast aluminium baskets are isolated from the baffle by the Shock-Mount system. The grille is frameless, micro-perforated, magnetic and paintable; the nickel-plated sprung terminals also suit banana plugs.
