Nordost QBASE Mark III

Nordost QBASE Mark III: star-earth mains distributor

The QBASE Mark III is a mains distribution unit based on star-earth topology. All the outlets are linked to the input from a single central point, and the ground impedance is raised on every outlet apart from the one marked Primary Earth. The outcome is a direct path from the wall socket to each unit, with the components isolated from one another on the ground side, with no in-line filters and no active circuits.

The body is in mechanically tuned extruded aluminium, with connectors developed to keep good contact over time. The Mark III version uses two printed circuit boards on separate levels, which divide the ground connections from the live and neutral tracks and reduce crosstalk between the currents. Internal wiring is in Nordost Mono-Filament wire and a resistive element damps eddy currents.
