Thirty-one kilograms of mechanical isolation, with 10-inch arm or Armless
M8x TT is a twin-plinth turntable with a 10 kg platter and 10-inch arm; it is also available without an arm.
M8x TT is one platform sold complete with a 10-inch tonearm or in Armless form for owners installing their own arm. Both share twin Plexiglass plinths, belt drive, isolated DC motor, magnetic feet and a split 10 kg platter. The turntable weighs 31.5 kg and requires a rigid, perfectly level support. The arm-free version retains the complete mechanical base and must not be mistaken for a reduced product.
Key features
- Separated twin Plexiglass plinth
- Split 10 kg TPE-damped aluminium platter
- Inverted ceramic ball bearing
- Isolated DC motor and electronic 33/45 rpm
- Magnetic feet and external power supply
- 10-inch arm included or Armless version
The split platter manages mass and resonance
Ten kilograms of aluminium provides rotational inertia, but mass alone can store energy. Split construction with internal inserts and TPE damping controls platter behaviour, while the inverted ceramic bearing supports the load on a defined point. Starting and stabilising require greater energy, supplied through the motor and belt.
Ten-inch arm: geometry and adjustment
The straight aluminium arm uses gimbal bearings, an integrated headshell and VTA/azimuth adjustment. Ten-inch length reduces tracking-angle error compared with a 9-inch arm while remaining more manageable than a 12-inch design. RCA and XLR outputs suit M8x Vinyl when cartridge and wiring support them. No cartridge is included.
Armless: the same base for a personal design
The arm-free version costs less because the component and installation are omitted, not because platter, motor or isolation change. It is for installers and enthusiasts understanding pivot distance, cut-out, effective mass and cartridge compatibility. An alternative arm may exceed the price difference; freedom, not automatic savings, is the reason to choose it.
Separating motor, plinths and furniture
The angled motor is decoupled through polyurethane foam from both chassis and support. Separate plinths divide platter and arm zones; magnetic feet address furniture vibration. External supply, leather mat and record puck complete the strategy. Flexible furniture or an unstable floor remain problems to solve upstream.
A turntable that sets demands for the rest of the chain
M8x TT deserves a cartridge, phono stage and set-up consistent with its mechanical base. M8x Vinyl offers balanced input, fine loading and several curves, while compatible alternatives also work. Weight and dimensions must be checked before choosing furniture; dust protection and adjustment access belong in the installation plan.
