Sistine 4XC: drivers and adjustments
Sistine 4XC brings a full three-way layout to the ceiling. The 203 mm woofer runs up to 400 Hz, two 89 mm midranges handle the central band and from 2,250 Hz the Folded Motion XT Obsidian tweeter comes in, here with a spread of 30° by 80°. Every cone is multi-section unidirectional carbon fibre with a Nomex layer behind it. Quoted response is 63 Hz to 25 kHz, sensitivity 92 dB and the suggested amplifier delivers 20 to 300 watts into 4 ohms.
Two switches tailor the speaker to where it is mounted. One sets tweeter level to +2, 0 or -2 dB; the other tells it its place in the system, front right or rear left as opposed to front left or rear right, while for a centre channel either setting will do. Behind, a dense moulded box encloses the air the woofer works against: results do not vary with the space available in the ceiling void and sound does not travel on to other rooms.
Mounting needs a hole 291 mm in diameter and 184 mm of depth; the visible part is 325 mm across and stands 6.6 mm proud. The handle provided helps you support the speaker while fixing it overhead, and die-cast aluminium clamps tighten it to the ceiling. The micro-perforated grille, frameless and paintable, is retained by concealed magnets; a square grille is available as an option, as is a pre-installation bracket.
