An LCR-type in-wall loudspeaker, two-way and sold as a pair: two 133 mm Kevlar woofers and a rotating Folded Motion XT tweeter, for the front, centre or surround channels of a home cinema.
MOTION XTW5-LCR: the design
The MOTION XTW5-LCR is the more compact of the pair of LCR designs in the Motion XT CI range: a long, narrow panel that can serve as left, centre, right or surround channel and sits naturally beside a flat-screen television or a projection screen. Its two 133 mm woofers have black Kevlar cones with a Nomex backing layer and cast aluminium baskets, and they run open-backed. Quoted response is 61 Hz - 25 kHz within ±3 dB, with 92 dB sensitivity.
What sets it apart is the tweeter: the Folded Motion XT sits in a housing that turns through 90 degrees, so its dispersion (80 degrees by 30) can be oriented to suit the room and the way the panel is mounted. The driver itself is an extremely light film pleated like an accordion, with 40% more radiating area than the standard Folded Motion unit, which brings wider bandwidth and higher efficiency along with very low distortion.
The Vojtko crossover hands over at 2,180 Hz, using air-core inductors, polyester film capacitors and a protection circuit for the tweeter. Nominal impedance is 4 ohms and the suggested amplifier rating goes up to 250 W. The micro-perforated grille, frameless and paintable, clips on magnetically and stands only 3 mm off the wall. The cut-out needed is 368 x 165 mm, with 81 mm of depth behind the surface; for walls still under construction there are pre-installation brackets, bought separately.
