CD 50n: a choice built around the system
CD 50n connects sources, listening priorities and space through a coherent configuration.
CD 50n is a Marantz CD and network audio player designed for a defined stereo role. Configuration, sources and loudspeakers should be chosen together: its value lies not in a feature count alone, but in the way it simplifies or specialises the system.
Key features
- CD and CD-R/RW
- HEOS network audio
- HDMI ARC
- high-resolution DAC
- fixed and variable analogue outputs
The player that also receives television sound
CD 50n combines CD, HEOS and HDMI ARC. It can become the single source for an analogue amplifier: reading discs, receiving network music and bringing television sound into the stereo. It does not play SACD, the decisive distinction from 30n.
A second life for an amplifier
Through its analogue connection it adds streaming and television to an integrated amplifier without digital inputs. Variable output can also feed a power amplifier or active speakers directly, provided volume handling is configured with care.
HEOS beyond the disc drawer
Services, internet radio and local servers coexist with the CD mechanism. AirPlay and Bluetooth make occasional listening immediate. Disc and network selection occur in one component, useful when a physical collection remains important but is no longer exclusive.
CD 50n or CD60
CD60 is a focused player for an owner who already has a DAC and streamer. CD 50n costs more because it also assumes those roles and includes ARC. SACD 30n remains the choice for SACD discs and specialist construction, but lacks the 50n HDMI connection.
The check before purchase
Before choosing CD 50n, confirm that cd and cd-r/rw, heos network audio and hdmi arc genuinely match the system priorities. That combination, alongside available inputs and shelf space, separates it from nearby alternatives: an unused feature cannot compensate for an unsuitable match.
