AMP 30: 6 power channels with one clear purpose
A 200-watt-per-channel amplifier with HDAM modules and configurable switching stages for expanding critical channels or relieving an AV receiver.
AMP 30 neither selects sources nor decodes formats. It receives signals from AV 30 and supplies current to the loudspeakers. Its 6 channels at 200 watts define the size of system it can support in one enclosure.
Key features
- 6 channels at 200 watts
- custom-developed switching amplification
- HDAM modules
- selectable RCA and XLR inputs
- normal, bi-amp and BTL modes
- linked control with AV 30
Six channels placed where they matter
AMP 30 is an expansion module rather than an attempt to contain the entire theatre. It can relieve a receiver of the front three speakers and use remaining stages for heights or bi-amping. Alternatively, it powers one coherent six-speaker block in an AV 30-based separates system.
The advantage of a slim enclosure
Its lower profile fits beside CINEMA 30 or CINEMA 40 where a twelve- or sixteen-channel amplifier would be excessive. RCA inputs suit receiver pre-outs; XLR belongs in a separates chain. The supplied link allows coordinated operation with a compatible Marantz preamplifier.
Bi-amp and BTL alter the design
Selectable modes can assign two stages to one loudspeaker or bridge them for greater output. They are not casual sound settings: each choice reduces the available channel count and requires a suitable electrical load. Their value lies in demanding front speakers or a planned upgrade path.
Expansion in planned stages
One unit may begin with the critical channels and a second can add power as the speaker count grows. This route spreads investment while retaining a consistent amplifier character. BTL and bi-amp modes offer another path, but surrender outputs and require a different allocation plan.
Choosing the right scale
AMP 30 does not compete with AMP 20 or AMP 10 on channel count. Six channels and a slimmer chassis add power where it matters: bi-amped front speakers, height channels, or support for CINEMA 30. A fully separate 11.4 system requires two units or complementary power amplifiers. The right question is not whether six channels are few, but which channels need 200 external watts. Front stage, heights and bi-amplification create different systems, so the assignment map should be settled before cabling. That decision prevents unused stages and an awkward second installation later.
