Primare DD35

Primare DD35: CD transport with digital outputs

DD35 is a full-width CD transport: it reads the disc and passes the signal on in digital form to whichever D/A conversion stage the system uses. Unlike the CD35 player, the DD35 specification lists digital outputs only. Primare conceived it first of all for the models of the modular line, namely the PRE35 preamplifier and the I35 and I25 integrated amplifiers, yet it suits any system that needs a high-quality digital signal from CD.

The reading unit is a dedicated low-resonance TEAC drive that supplies a signal without jitter to the digital output stage; that stage has a separate power supply of its own and operates with very little noise. There are two further construction details: an R-type transformer for the power supply and an OLED graphic display on the front panel.

Key features

• TEAC CD 5020A-AT disc drive
• Coaxial digital output on RCA: one
• Toslink optical digital output
• C25 infrared remote
• IR on 3.5 mm jacks, input and output
• 12 V trigger and RS232 port for control by external systems

Connections

The link to a converter or to an amplifier with digital inputs is made through the coaxial RCA socket or the Toslink optical one. For integration into a remotely operated system there are the IR sockets, the 12 V trigger and the RS232 serial port.

Technical data

The three measurements given in the specification, buttons and connectors included, are 430, 385 and 106 mm. The weight is 10.8 kg. The finishes on sale are Black and Titanium.
