The KEF R8 Meta are Dolby Atmos® / Surround speakers designed to bring an authentic three-dimensional experience to high-level Home Cinema systems. They can be placed on top of the front speakers to create height channels without structural work, or wall-mounted as side or rear surrounds. The angle of the front baffle ensures correct output towards the listener or the ceiling, guaranteeing precise, wide and credible immersive effects.
12th-generation Uni-Q with MAT™
The acoustic heart is the coaxial 12th-generation Uni-Q driver (25 mm aluminium tweeter + 130 mm mid/woofer), paired with MAT™ (Metamaterial Absorption Technology). This technology absorbs up to 99% of the unwanted resonances behind the tweeter, improving clarity, naturalness and definition—fundamental for making voices and effects perfectly intelligible. The even dispersion typical of Uni-Q keeps the image stable even off axis.
Closed box, Shadow Flare and maximum flexibility
The closed box allows clean, controlled installations; the Flexible Decoupling Chassis reduces vibrations and colouration, while the Shadow Flare limits diffraction on the front baffle. The result is a compact but powerful speaker, ideal both as an Atmos module and as a surround in 5.1.2, 5.1.4 or larger configurations, perfectly tonally matched with the R5, R7, R11, R3, R2 and R6 Meta.
