JL Audio M6-100CT: 1-inch marine tweeters
The M6-100CT is the 1-inch marine tweeter in the JL Audio M6 series. Its silk dome looks after high-frequency detail and disperses sound widely, so the treble stays readable even among wind, waves and engine noise.
There are three colour combinations of mounts and trim ring. Both the Classic-badged and the Sport-badged rings are in the package, so the tweeters can be matched to the other M6 speakers on board. The price is for a pair.
Key features
- 1-inch silk dome tweeter
- External third-order high-pass filters supplied
- Flush or surface fitting with the supplied mounts
- Classic and Sport trim rings both supplied
- Suitable amplifier: 10 to 75 W per channel
- Solid-state circuit protecting the tweeter
Silk dome
The silk diaphragm is light and quick to respond. It gives bright treble, behaves well off axis and has the damping needed to cover the different areas of the boat in a balanced way. Wide dispersion helps the treble to be heard well even away from the tweeter axis.
High-pass filters
Each tweeter has its own external third-order high-pass filter, which smooths the response and raises power handling. The filter includes an automatic solid-state circuit: it protects the tweeter and keeps the likelihood of failure to a minimum. Input and output are on ready-made leads.
Installation
The tweeters fit flush or on the surface: mounts for both solutions and the clips for flush fitting are in the package, together with the hardware. The trim ring is chosen at fitting time, Classic or Sport, according to the grilles of the other speakers.
Amplification
M6 tweeters work with amplifiers from 10 to 75 W per channel and suit very different systems. They sit alongside the woofers and coaxials of the same series to build a multi-way system. In the M6 series the coaxials come in 6.5, 7.7 and 8.8-inch sizes.
Marine environment
Like the other JL Audio marine products, M6 tweeters resist corrosion and UV rays and cope well with harsh weather and salt. The series goes beyond international standards for salt and ultraviolet exposure.
