JL Audio M3-770X: 7.7-inch marine coaxial speakers
The M3-770X is the 7.7-inch coaxial in the JL Audio M3 series, optimised for medium-power systems. It gives a full, even sound, well beyond that of ordinary boat speakers, and handles 70 W RMS continuously into 4 ohms.
Three grilles are offered: Classic Gloss White, Sport Gloss White and Sport Gunmetal. Both Sport grilles can also be ordered with built-in RGB LED lighting. The price is for a pair.

Woofer and tweeter
The woofer is optimised with DMA, the proprietary JL Audio technology that acts on the motor, the suspension and the cone profile to lower distortion and deliver clean, well controlled bass. Treated silk was chosen for the tweeter because it is light, well damped and linear in response: the result is crisp detail at the highest frequencies.
Filter and amplification
A second-order filter is integrated in the tweeter, plus solid-state protection that makes a failure of the tweeter itself very unlikely. The M3 series is at its best with a quality amplifier, yet it can also be driven by an ordinary marine source unit.
RGB LED lighting
The With RGB versions of the Sport grilles have multicolour LEDs built in. The LEDs run on 10 to 14.4 V DC, draw 108 mA at most at 14.4 V and connect through a four-conductor 22 AWG flying lead.
Installation
Outer diameter is 196 mm and mounting depth 81 mm. Including the grille, overall depth is 106 mm in the Classic version. The grilles arrive already attached to the speaker and terminals are fork type. The grille stands 26 mm proud of the panel (28 mm for Sport) and the fixing holes lie on a 176 mm circle. Like the rest of the series, this model is made to live at sea and to cope with salt water in the long run. The series goes beyond international standards for salt and UV resistance.
