Goldring 1022GX: MM cartridge with Vital line-contact stylus

The 1022GX uses a Vital nude diamond line-contact stylus: a polyhedral profile that is narrow along the groove and tall in its contact with the walls, with very low tip mass. It reads even the highest frequencies cut into the record and, resting on a large area, wears stylus and vinyl less.

Pocan body

The body is a one-piece moulding in Pocan, a very rigid glass-reinforced polyester, which holds the fixed parts firmly and can be tightened securely to the headshell. Each cartridge is built by hand; the stylus is user-replaceable.

Fitting and matching

It has the standard half-inch mount and fits most tonearms with an effective mass from 5 to 25 g. It connects to an ordinary MM phono input, with a 47 kΩ load. Tracking force should be kept between 1.5 and 2 grams (1.75 recommended). As with any cartridge, after fitting it you should set alignment, tracking force and anti-skating following the tonearm instructions.
