VPI Titan is a double-chassis turntable on pneumatic feet, with the Fatboy Gimbal 12-3D tonearm
Titan develops the layout of the Avenger and moves it onto a structure of two stacked chassis. It is designed to take as many as three tonearms of whatever brand and length, and it plays 33 and 45 rpm records. VPI presents it as the most stable of its turntables and the one most focused on isolation.
Each chassis is a machined sandwich, with one aluminium layer between two of acrylic and internal damping. The whole structure rests on three isolation feet with pneumatic air suspension. The aluminium platter, 5 cm thick, is magnetically decoupled. One new design element concerns the supply of the motor unit: analogue oscillators produce low-distortion sine waves for the two speeds. VPI states that the regenerated sine wave keeps mains-borne noise away from the signal path and feeds the motor clean, even alternating current. Speed is adjusted with the external ADS unit. The record is secured by the HR-X clamp and the steel periphery ring. The finish is black lacquer.

Supplied tonearm
Titan carries the Fatboy Gimbal 12-3D, a tonearm with a full gimbal bearing wired internally with Nordost Reference cable. The figures: pivot-to-spindle distance 300 mm, effective length 313 mm, overhang 13 mm, offset angle 17.37 degrees, effective mass 12.5 g; the stated average RMS distortion is 0.267%. It is made with 3D technology from materials that include epoxy resin, Delrin, copper, aluminium and steel. It has an adjustable counterweight, side weights for azimuth, VTA adjustment and the Limo connection.
Available accessories
For Titan VPI lists additional tonearms and supplementary arm boards for tonearms from other makers.
