Dorpo X300: half-width 8K media player with a SATA drive bay
The X300 is an 8K media player for anyone who wants to keep a film and music library at home: the chassis houses a removable bay for one 3.5-inch SATA disk, which goes in and comes out with no tools. Dorpo places it halfway between the X3, which has no bay, and the UHP3001, which has a full-width chassis: it takes the video functions and streaming apps of the former and adds the internal storage of the latter.
The five-core Amlogic S928X-K processor, built at 12 nm and rated at 3.2 TOPS, works with an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, 6 GB of LPDDR4X memory and 64 GB of eMMC storage. Power comes from a switching supply, in a layout Dorpo describes as modular. The case is half as wide as a rack component, has a metal internal structure and a front panel with a full-width screen. The system is FunplayUI 2.0 on Android 11; control is through the supplied remote, the dp SmartController app or a home automation system.

Connections
The X300 provides an HDMI 2.1 output, three USB 3.0 ports (two of them on one side) and one USB 2.0, digital audio outputs in optical and coaxial form and an RCA stereo output. For system integration there are an RS232 port plus a trigger input and output; the player also responds to HDMI CEC, the local network and the app. The coaxial output carries Dolby and DTS streams and PCM as high as 192 kHz; the analogue one delivers 2.1 Vrms, with crosstalk better than 114 dB at 1 kHz. Mains input from 100 to 240 V.
Streaming and control
The Android-based system accepts the apps the user prefers: Dorpo lists Amazon Prime, YouTube and Plex for video, Tidal, Spotify and Apple Music for music. FunplayUI 2.0 scans the stored content, fetches the metadata of films and tracks and sorts them into a library; the internal player decodes the AV1, VP9, H.265, AVS2 and AVS3 codecs in 8K and opens MKV, MP4, TS, M2TS files and the BDMV and ISO Blu-ray structures. The Bluetooth remote has backlit keys that light up with movement, a six-axis gyroscope for the air mouse function and learning of the infrared codes of other devices.
