The Founder 120H is the hybrid floorstander at the top of the range, sold as a pair: a reflex-loaded three-way whose three 215 mm Carbon-X woofers are driven by a built-in amplifier, while midrange and treble are left to the system's own amplifier.
Founder 120H: active bass and room correction
The point of the hybrid design is to relieve the external amplifier of the hardest part of the job. The three 215 mm woofers, with a one-piece Carbon-X cone and a third-generation ART surround, are powered by the internal electronics and filtered at 300 Hz by a digital and analogue crossover; the amplifier in the system looks after midrange and tweeter only, with far less strain. Speaker and bass amplification are conceived as a single system, which is what allows quoted extension down to 18 Hz (DIN) and an on-axis response of 22 Hz - 23 kHz within ±2 dB from a cabinet 115.3 cm tall.
The active section incorporates ARC Genesis, the Anthem Room Correction system: it measures how the speaker behaves in the room and acts on the harmful effects of the acoustics while leaving alone whatever works. Because it belongs to the control stage of the internal amplifier, it can be used with electronics of any make. It is a practical help precisely in the bass, where the room matters most.
Everything else is shared with the larger models in the range. The 152 mm AL-MAG midrange, with perforated PPA lens and Shock-Mount fixing, works up to 2.4 kHz; the 25 mm tweeter with AL-MAC dome, ferrofluid cooled, sits in the OSW waveguide, which directs high frequencies at the listening area and limits side reflections. The faceted cabinet with Cascade-Fusion braces stands on Shock-Mount feet adjusted from the top. Sensitivity is 95 dB in room (92 dB anechoic), impedance is 8 ohm compatible and the recommended external amplifier is 15 to 400 W. Each speaker weighs 41.7 kg and is built in Canada.
