Four 4-inch Torrent drivers in an on-wall cabinet less than 9 cm deep
Totem Tribe V is a two-way on-wall loudspeaker with four 4-inch Torrent woofers, a titanium tweeter and stated response down to 34 Hz.
It is the Tribe model for high-quality systems where the loudspeaker must remain close to the wall. Four Torrent drivers increase radiating area and dynamic capability compared with Tribe III, while the nominal 8-ohm impedance keeps the electrical load relatively easy despite the higher output potential.
Key features
- Two-way on-wall loudspeaker.
- 4 x 4-inch Torrent woofers.
- 1-inch titanium-dome tweeter with aluminium faceplate.
- Specified frequency response of 34 Hz-25 kHz ±3 dB.
- 89 dB sensitivity and 8-ohm nominal impedance.
- Recommended amplifier power from 30 to 200 W.
- First-order crossover at 3.5 kHz.
- Bi-wireable terminals with vertical or horizontal mounting.
Four Torrent drivers for greater scale
The Torrent woofers operate without crossover components in their main signal path, using sufficiently broad bandwidth to leave filtering to the high-frequency section. Four drivers increase output and dynamic headroom without forcing the enclosure to become substantially deeper.
Compared with Tribe III
Tribe III uses two Torrent drivers, a textile tweeter and a 4-ohm load. Tribe V doubles the woofer count, moves to 8 ohms and extends deeper, making it better suited to larger rooms, higher levels and ambitious cinema fronts. Its greater height also suits screens from roughly 65 to 100 inches.
Room and system matching
It can be mounted vertically for left/right duties or horizontally as a centre channel. It suits medium-to-large stereo and cinema rooms where a conventional tower would be difficult to integrate but useful extension, output and imaging are still required from a wall-mounted solution. The cabinet uses variable-density fibreboard and carefully assembled construction to control resonant behaviour across a tall, shallow enclosure. At roughly 18 kg, the speaker also has enough mass to remain mechanically stable when mounted horizontally. At almost 122 cm high, the enclosure distributes its four woofers across a broad vertical area, helping maintain a large acoustic source beside very large displays.
