Focal Sopra N°1: 2-way standmount loudspeaker
A two-way standmount loudspeaker with a 16.5 cm W cone: compact, yet with the sensitivity and power handling to fill large rooms as well. It is intended for living rooms under 25 square metres and copes with spaces over 50; very low distortion leaves a clean sound, with full, articulate bass.
The Sopra series brings many solutions from the Utopia line into a smaller size. The tweeter is a 27 mm inverted dome in pure beryllium; to give its best it would need an almost infinite volume behind it, and the IHL system (Infinite Horn Loading) simulates one while leaving the whole cabinet volume to the bass. The cones are W sandwich designs. The midrange has TMD suspension and the NIC magnetic circuit (Neutral Inductance Circuit), which keeps the magnetic field stable and distortion low.
Cabinet
The cabinet is built in France by Focal's cabinet-makers, with a tempered glass top; in the finishes, lacquer or wood, the material is part of the design.
Partners
The dedicated stand, 61 cm tall, is optional. For home cinema the series offers the Sopra Center, the Surround BE surrounds and the SW 1000 BE subwoofer, with the same drivers and therefore the same tone.
