A compact tower combining useful bass depth with easier room placement
Totem Forest is a two-way floorstanding loudspeaker with a 6.5-inch woofer, aluminium tweeter and nominal 8-ohm impedance.
It is one of the more balanced towers in the range when cabinet size and room-filling ability are considered together. The enclosure is under 35 inches high, yet stated response reaches 30 Hz. The design prioritises phase coherence, speed and stereo imaging without demanding the cabinet volume and wall clearance associated with Wind.
Key features
- Two-way floorstanding loudspeaker.
- 6.5-inch mid/bass driver using a 3-inch voice coil.
- 1-inch aluminium-dome tweeter with rear chamber.
- Specified in-room response of 30 Hz-20 kHz ±3 dB.
- Nominal sensitivity is 87 dB.
- 8-ohm nominal impedance with a 6.4-ohm minimum.
- Recommended amplifier power from 50 to 200 W.
- Compensated second-order filter crossing at 2.5 kHz.
A different platform from Wind
Forest uses a conventional two-way layout with one woofer, whereas Wind employs four drivers in a three-way arrangement and needs considerably more space. This makes Forest easier to integrate in a living room or medium-sized dedicated space while still providing strong low-frequency extension for a relatively slim tower.
Forest or Forest Signature
The Signature version retains the same general concept but introduces more selected crossover parts, WBT terminals, rake adjustment and slightly wider stated bandwidth. Forest is therefore the more direct route for listeners wanting the core platform without the additional construction refinements built into the Signature model.
Placement and amplifier choice
With an 8-ohm nominal load and 87 dB sensitivity it does not demand exotic electronics, although an amplifier with good woofer control remains worthwhile. Totem suggests roughly 30 cm to 1.8 m from the rear wall and about 1.2-3.6 m between speakers, values that suit medium and medium-to-large rooms. A Delrin decoupling system at the base controls floor contact without requiring spikes, although threaded inserts remain available for unusual situations such as very thick carpet. At roughly 20.5 kg per cabinet, it also provides a substantial mechanical base without making the tower excessively difficult to reposition during setup.
