The Element series in its most complete floorstanding configuration
Totem Element Metal V2 is a two-way floorstanding loudspeaker with twin 7-inch Torrent woofers, a titanium tweeter and 91 dB sensitivity.
It is the Element model intended for medium-to-large rooms and systems capable of exploiting its dynamic headroom and low-frequency reach. Second-generation Torrent woofers operate without a passive crossover in their signal path, while the tweeter uses a first-order network. Its relatively compact footprint for this level of output also makes placement less intrusive than many similarly ambitious towers.
Key features
- Two-way floorstanding design with 2 x 7-inch Torrent woofers.
- 1-inch titanium-dome tweeter with aluminium faceplate.
- Specified frequency response of 26 Hz-22 kHz.
- 91 dB sensitivity and 4-ohm nominal impedance.
- Recommended amplifier power from 50 to 300 W.
- First-order crossover applied only to the tweeter section.
- Bi-wireable WBT terminals on an annealed aluminium plate.
- Approximate weight of 33.3 kg and height of around 110 cm.
Torrent V2: woofer control without a conventional crossover
The Torrent motor arranges its magnets around the voice coil so that it remains continuously immersed in the magnetic field. The driver's unusually broad response allows Totem to avoid crossover components in the woofer path and limit filtering to the high-frequency section. The design therefore keeps the connection between amplifier and main drivers particularly direct.
Compared with Fire V2 and Wood V2
Fire V2 applies the same Torrent philosophy to a standmount monitor using a single 7-inch driver, making it easier to accommodate in smaller rooms. Wood V2 is not a stereo alternative at all, but the dedicated Element centre channel. Metal V2 is therefore the natural choice when deeper bass and greater dynamic scale are required within the Element platform.
Ideal room and system
Its relatively high sensitivity means huge power is not essential, but the 4-ohm load rewards an amplifier with solid current delivery. Placement can begin as close as roughly 15 cm from the rear wall, although larger rooms allow greater freedom. It is best suited to ambitious stereo systems and listening spaces where control, scale and precise imaging need to coexist. Twin woofers also provide greater radiating area than Fire V2, reducing the need for one driver to make very large excursions when music contains deep bass or strong dynamic swings. It is also well suited to listeners who want full-range scale without moving to an oversized enclosure.
