Stylus170 is a compact two-way outdoor loudspeaker, sold as a pair: a 25 mm PTD dome tweeter and a 115 mm ICP cone in a closed PolyGlass cabinet that stands up to bad weather, water and UV light.
Stylus170: how it is built
The Stylus170 measures 19.7 × 14.3 × 14.0 cm and weighs 1.6 kg, dimensions that let it go where space is tight. Its cabinet is PolyGlass, a material Paradigm rates as resistant to bad weather, water and ultraviolet light, and the loading is acoustic suspension, which means a fully closed box with no reflex ports.
The two bands are handled by a tweeter with a 25 mm PTD dome and a mid/bass unit with a 115 mm ICP cone, joined by a third-order electro-acoustic filter at 2.3 kHz. Quoted on-axis response is within ±2 dB between 90 Hz and 20 kHz, and at 30° off axis it holds the same tolerance up to 18 kHz: a figure that matters outdoors, where people seldom sit still in front of the speakers. Bass extension reaches 65 Hz to the DIN standard.
Sensitivity is 88 dB and the impedance suits 8 ohm amplifiers. Paradigm suggests 15 to 80 W of amplifier power and a maximum input of 50 W, so an amplifier of modest output is quite enough to drive it properly.
