A wall-mounted pair for indoor and outdoor spaces.
AM1 combines a sealed enclosure, auxiliary radiator and adjustable bracket.
The pair of Bowers & Wilkins AM1 speakers comprises two passive units resistant to dust, moisture and UV. Each uses a 25 mm Nautilus tube-loaded aluminium-dome tweeter, a 130 mm glass-fibre bass/midrange driver and an auxiliary bass radiator. It is designed for wall mounting indoors or outside, with a separate amplifier.
Key features
- Sealed two-way design with 25 mm Nautilus tube-loaded aluminium-dome tweeter
- 130 mm glass-fibre bass/midrange and auxiliary bass radiator (ABR)
- Aluminium bracket for vertical or horizontal mounting with 220° rotation
- Wall-mounted response 51 Hz-22 kHz; 86 dB sensitivity; 8-ohm impedance (5.2-ohm minimum)
- Recommended amplifier 20-100 W; dimensions 310 × 180 × 210 mm; 4 kg each
Orientation and installation
The aluminium bracket mounts the cabinet vertically or horizontally and provides 220° rotation. The mounting system incorporates the connection, so position also determines the cable route. The sealed body resists the elements without a reflex port facing the wall. Check the supporting surface and fixings for the proposed location.
Drivers and dimensions
The auxiliary radiator works with the 130 mm cone without an open vent in the enclosure. Each unit is 310 × 180 × 210 mm and weighs 4 kg. Its 51 Hz-22 kHz response is stated for wall mounting, an important qualification when comparing it with indoor speakers measured under different conditions.
Sensitivity is 86 dB and nominal impedance 8 ohms, with a 5.2-ohm minimum. Recommended amplifier power is 20-100 W. AM1 differs from the smaller M-1 through weather resistance, wall bracket and auxiliary radiator. The pair supplies both stereo channels for a terrace or indoor area, to be aimed at the listening space.
