One driver and a small opening
CCM632 fits ceiling positions that leave little room for a conventional two-way design.
The Bowers & Wilkins CCM632 pair uses a single full-range driver in each ceiling speaker. Each position requires a 120 mm circular cut-out and 100 mm of depth behind the panel; the round frame is 147 mm across and protrudes by 5.5 mm. These dimensions suit discreet points of sound or multiple speakers spread through a space, provided the ceiling void has been measured first.
Key features
- Cut-out 120 mm; frame 147 mm; depth 100 mm.
- Drive units: 75 mm black glass-fibre full-range driver.
- Impedance: 8 ohm, 5 ohm minimum; power: 10–60 W recommended.
- integral enclosure; PMK C3; round and square magnetic grilles included
A different driver approach
The 75 mm glass-fibre cone avoids placing a tweeter in front of a very small bass/midrange unit. That distinguishes CCM632 from the coaxial two-way CCM362 and CCM382, which need much larger openings. Its -6 dB range is 100 Hz to 17 kHz; consider the complete system where substantial bass output is required. Sensitivity is 84 dB.
Grilles and fixing
An integral enclosure on each unit helps limit sound transfer into neighbouring spaces. ZipDogs fixings accommodate different panel thicknesses. Round and square grille and bezel assemblies are supplied, attach magnetically and can be customised. Choose the visible shape before finishing the ceiling. Nominal impedance is 8 ohms, with a 5-ohm minimum, and recommended amplifier power is 10 to 60 W. PMK C3 is listed for pre-mounting.
Several CCM632 positions can provide distributed sound where one larger speaker would be too conspicuous. A small cut-out does not mean negligible mounting depth: the integral enclosure still occupies 100 mm behind the panel. Check the front opening as well as services and structural obstructions in the void.
