More drivers in the larger tower
The Monitor XT70 pair brings music and films to a component system.
The Polk Audio Monitor XT70 pair is the largest tower in the range. Each cabinet uses two active 6.5" paper woofers, two 8" passive radiators and a 1" Terylene tweeter. The passive radiators support bass response without being directly driven by the amplifier.

How it differs from XT60
Each tower measures 235 x 1026.6 x 317.9 mm. It is wider and deeper than the XT60, so consider room circulation before placing it. Nickel-plated five-way posts connect to an amplifier; optional XT90 height modules can sit on top.
Stated overall response is 35 Hz-40 kHz and the lower -3 dB limit is 41 Hz. The XT60 has only one 6.5" woofer and two passive radiators of that same diameter. For films and games the XT70 can work with an XT30/XT35 centre and an LFE subwoofer.
The larger cabinets have a more substantial footprint than the XT60. Plan stable positions for both towers and a cable route from the receiver. Each speaker is passive, with no built-in amplification. The two 8" radiators in each cabinet are not active woofers; the pair provides left and right channels for music or film soundtracks. Choosing between XT60 and XT70 also involves available space: the XT70 is over a metre tall and 317.9 mm deep. Leave access to the rear terminals for speaker cable. Optional XT90 modules can be placed on the towers for height channels, but a compatible receiver must drive them separately. The towers themselves remain passive stereo or front-channel speakers, even when used in a Dolby Atmos system. Radiator size does not change wiring: each tower requires one amplified channel from the receiver.
