A bigger outdoor listening area
The Polk Audio Atrium 6 pair covers a larger outdoor listening area with two passive speakers. Each cabinet combines a 5.25" aerated polypropylene Dynamic Balance woofer and a 1" anodized aluminium dome tweeter. The tweeter is also larger than that of the Atrium 5.
A water-resistant PowerPort vent supports bass output; it does not take the place of a subwoofer where deeper bass is required. Overall response is 50 Hz-27 kHz and recommended amplification is 10-100 W per channel. Five-way gold-plated terminals connect each speaker to the amplifier.

Placement and connections
Including bracket and knobs, each Atrium 6 measures about 195 x 297 x 222 mm, so it needs more wall space than the 5. Its Speed-Lock bracket offers up to 180° adjustment. Place the pair on either side of the area to be covered and plan both speaker-cable runs first.
Mineral-filled polypropylene cabinets and coated aluminium grilles are made for outdoor use. Atrium 8 SDI addresses a different layout: its dual inputs can reproduce stereo from one mounting position, whereas this pair physically separates left and right. Check the mounting surface before installation.
Use the pair when left and right channels can be physically separated along a wall or across a patio. That arrangement aims music toward listeners rather than into the building. The bracket does not remove the need for a firm mounting surface, particularly in an exposed or windy position.
Its 5.25" woofer and 1" tweeter distinguish the 6 from the smaller 4 and 5; cabinet dimensions grow accordingly. Check the 222 mm depth beneath eaves or near a passage. For distributed low frequencies across a much larger garden, a separate outdoor subwoofer can be considered.
