The single Bowers & Wilkins Px8 uses two angled 40 mm Carbon Cone drivers. Px7 S2 and S2e of the same generation instead have bio-cellulose drivers: cone diameter remains 40 mm, but material and design change. Px8 also uses Nappa leather details and aluminium arms in its construction.

Connections and control
Bluetooth 5.2 supports aptX Adaptive, HD, aptX, AAC and SBC. USB-C handles charging and wired audio; USB-C-to-USB-C and USB-C-to-3.5 mm cables are supplied. The 24-bit DSP works with hybrid noise cancellation. Ambient mode admits outside sound when needed, while wear detection serves daily operation.
Calls and battery
Four microphones serve ANC and two handle speech. Battery life reaches 30 hours; 15 minutes charging gives up to 7 hours playback. Weight without case is 320 g, above Px7 S2e's 307 g. The decision therefore includes materials, drivers and weight as well as listening features.
Px8 McLaren Edition retains this technical platform and differs through the collaboration and design details, without changing the main battery and connection figures. Px8 S2 moves to Bluetooth 5.3, aptX Lossless, eight microphones, five-band EQ and dedicated DAC/amplifier processing. If those functions matter, the S2 is a more substantial step than a design edition. In both generations, the quoted 30-hour figure remains the same, so battery duration alone does not capture the technical step to S2. Its six-microphone arrangement and Bluetooth 5.2 are clearer points of comparison.
