Compact preamplifier with phono stage
Chord Suzi Pre is a compact preamplifier with a built-in phono stage for MM and MC cartridges, with selectable gain and impedance. It is used as a standalone preamplifier or joined directly to the Suzi Amp stereo power amplifier, with which it forms a small pre/power system.
The set of sockets is essential: three stereo RCA inputs, one of them for the turntable, one stereo RCA output and two headphone outputs, 3.5 mm and 6.35 mm. A central control sphere, illuminated in colour, adjusts the volume and selects the input; among the features Chord Electronics also lists the remote control.
The Suzi system
Suzi Pre is part of a concept that the manufacturer describes as versatile and that includes the Suzi Amp power amplifier. Together the two units form a compact pre/power amplifier with phono stage and headphone output, with a turntable and two line sources as inputs. The headphone output delivers 160 mW into 100 Ω.
Chord also lists other configurations of the same system, which concern the power amplifier: Suzi Amp with the Hugo 2 DAC, to obtain a DAC with amplifier, and Suzi Amp with Hugo 2 and the 2go streamer, for an amplifier with DAC and streaming. Suzi Amp, Hugo 2 and 2go are separate units from the Suzi Pre.
