Q Acoustics 5090 Centre

The Q Acoustics 5090 Centre is the centre-channel speaker of the 5000 series: two 110 mm C3 mid/bass drivers and a 25 mm tweeter in a low cabinet, for crisp dialogue at the heart of a home cinema system.

5090 Centre: the centre channel of the 5000 series

The job of a centre speaker is to keep dialogue to the fore even when the soundtrack is very busy, without losing the nuances of quieter films. The 5090 Centre tackles it with two 110 mm mid/bass drivers using the C3 Continuous Curved Cone profile, the continuously curved diaphragm that defines the series: dynamics in the bass and an even transition towards the tweeter. The drive units are new designs and take higher power.

The 25 mm tweeter derives from Concept practice and sits in a new housing, airtight and decoupled from the baffle, so that cabinet pressure and woofer resonances do not reach it. The baffle is laminated in butyl rubber with a black acrylic finish, which damps vibration and hides the fixings. P2P (Point to Point) internal braces stiffen the cabinet and contribute to imaging precision.

Stated response is 57 Hz-30 kHz at -6 dB, with 90.5 dB sensitivity, 6 ohms nominal and a 3.2 ohm minimum; the suggested amplifier ranges from 25 to 150 W. The cabinet measures 16.4 x 43 x 24.3 cm, has a volume of 7.8 litres and weighs 8.5 kg. A grille and foam bung are included; for wall mounting the Q WB75 bracket can be used. The speaker is sold singly.
