Pair of active speakers with built-in streaming
The Cambridge Audio L/R Medium (L/R M on the manufacturer's website) is a pair of active stereo speakers with a built-in network streamer: no external amplifier is needed and a turntable, television, computer and games console connect directly. It is the most versatile model in the L/R series, designed to fill rooms of different sizes with music. The price is for the pair.
Each speaker has its own amplification and an active crossover, for an output of 2 x 150 W (300 W in total). Each measures 158 x 263 x 190 mm (width, height, depth); the primary speaker weighs 6.2 kg, the secondary 5.4 kg.
28 mm tweeter, twin woofers and passive radiators
The 28 mm tweeter, designed by Cambridge Audio, has a dual-radius aluminium dome, a dedicated waveguide, a phase ring and a rear chamber engineered for detail and a very wide soundstage. The low end is handled by two 4-inch woofers, one front-facing and one hidden and firing downwards, together with two opposed 4.75-inch side-mounted passive radiators.
Frequency response runs from 40 Hz to 24 kHz (+/-3 dB) and the bass has the weight of much larger speakers. The 64-bit digital processing, room optimisation tools, DynamEQ and the Normal, Movie and Voice modes keep the balance at any volume; the RCA subwoofer output remains available for anyone wishing to add a sub.
StreamMagic Gen 4 and connections
The StreamMagic Gen 4 platform gives access to Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music, internet radio and UPnP; L/R Medium is Roon Ready and works with Google Cast and AirPlay 2, including multiroom. Networking is dual-band Wi-Fi 5 or Ethernet, Bluetooth supports the SBC and AAC codecs, and the speakers are Hi-Res Audio certified.
Inputs are HDMI eARC for a television, MM phono for a turntable, an analogue RCA pair (Aux), optical TOSLINK, USB-C audio and USB-A for storage media. Supported formats are ALAC, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, DSD (up to DSD256), WMA, MP3, AAC and OGG Vorbis.
Finishes and accessories
L/R Medium is available in six finishes: black, white, blue, green, orange and walnut. The floating base and the LED light under the cabinet complete the design.
The box contains the two speakers, the mains cable, the 5 m USB-C cable (black) that links the two speakers, the Bluetooth LE remote control and the safety manual.
