Ground wire with 6% silver and RF/ND-Tech
Whether its task is to drain a shield or to remove hum, a ground wire is still an antenna for radio frequencies. ThunderBird GroundGoody is built to ground turntables, ground boxes, subwoofers and powered speakers without bringing further RF noise into the system.
Solid conductor with 6% silver
The conductor is a solid wire, a choice that keeps the strands from interacting electrically and magnetically. A silver layer equal to 6% is applied over Long-Grain Copper: putting the better metal on the outer surface is the most efficient way to get close to the dissipation ability of solid silver. Compared with the earlier Saturn, which relied on Perfect-Surface Copper+, the removal of RF noise improves noticeably. The conductor is also Direction-Controlled.
RF/ND-Tech
The most important new feature is RF/ND-Tech, the patented technology that marks Level 8 Noise-Dissipation, the most effective from AudioQuest: it dissipates and cancels the greater part of the radio-frequency noise induced on the wire.
Terminations and use with a turntable
The #10 spade lugs (3/16 inch) are cold-welded and carry direct silver plating, with no intermediate nickel layer: this is why they look matt rather than shiny. Paired with almost every analogue interconnect, ThunderBird GroundGoody forms a phono cable with low distortion. Excluded are the AudioQuest interconnects with ZERO-Tech (Black Beauty, Pegasus, ThunderBird, FireBird, Dragon), which are unsuitable for phono cartridges.
