USB-A > USB-B cable with 10% silver and 72V DBS biasing
Coffee USB is the USB cable with which the range introduces the Dielectric-Bias System, an insulation bias absent from the simpler models. On top of that come solid conductors with 10% silver and carbon-based three-layer noise dissipation. It links computers, streamers and music servers to a DAC with a USB-B input and suits the majority of computer audio setups.
Every construction choice has a single purpose: keeping noise and timing errors away from the converter.
Conductors
The conductors are solid, hence free of the magnetic and electrical interaction among strands that generates distortion and jitter. The Long-Grain Copper (LGC) carries silver plating amounting to 10%: at digital signal frequencies the current flows almost only at the surface, which is where the silver does its work.
72V DBS, shielding and insulation
Unbiased insulation absorbs energy and gives it back in a non-linear way, delaying different frequencies by different amounts. The 72V DBS keeps the dielectric under tension and counters these timing errors; an RF Trap stops the DBS field elements inducing noise into the signal conductors. The Noise-Dissipation System alternates metal with carbon-loaded synthetic layers to halt radio interference short of the layer tied to ground. The Hard-Cell Foam insulation, expanded using nitrogen, stabilises geometry and impedance, and the conductors are Direction-Controlled.
Termination and lengths
Coffee USB comes in the USB-A > USB-B termination only: the USB-A plug goes to the source, the USB-B plug to the input of the DAC or amplifier. Available lengths are 0.75 m, 1.5 m, 3 m and 5 m.
