48 Gbps Ultra High Speed HDMI cable with 5% silver-plated copper and a noise-absorbing carbon layer
Carbon 48 is a 48 Gbps HDMI cable holding the Ultra High Speed certification from HDMI Licensing. It covers 4K/120, 8K/60 and the remaining HDMI 2.1 functions, supports Dynamic HDR and eARC, and goes as far as carrying 10K Ultra HD at professional level.
The 48 Gbps are spread across four balanced audio/video pairs of 12 Gbps apiece. Materials and construction also lift the results of a 4K system, with which the cable is fully backward compatible. It fits between televisions, projectors, soundbars and AV receivers.
Conductors with 5% silver
The conductors are solid-core copper plated with 5% silver. A solid core removes the electrical and magnetic interaction that builds up between the wires of a stranded conductor. Across the AudioQuest HDMI range the amount of silver rises with each model, ending with solid silver, because a thicker layer improves the way noise is dissipated.
Noise reduction
Carbon 48 uses Level 3 Noise-Dissipation. All 19 conductors are Direction-Controlled, including the ground-reference drains and the control and power lines, to cut radio-frequency noise. Around the four FRL pairs and the eARC pair there is also a high-loss carbon layer enclosed by two metal layers, which absorbs a further share of the interference.
Gaming and lengths
Gaming functions such as 4K at 120 frames, VRR, ALLM and QFT are handled, useful with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and gaming computers. Carbon 48 is offered in lengths of 0.6 m, 1 m, 1.5 m, 2 m and 3 m.
