Brave Heart Full-Range: a large-gauge ZERO-Tech speaker cable
Brave Heart is a full-range speaker cable whose size comes close to AudioQuest's Mythical Creature models: its outer diameter is only 0.6 mm smaller. Inside it holds nearly a third more Perfect-Surface Copper+ than earlier models, and it adopts ZERO-Tech, which leaves the cable with no characteristic impedance.
Sold as a pair: the pack contains two cables, one for the right channel and one for the left.
Gauge and bass control
The generous gauge keeps damping factor better preserved as length grows, which translates into a firmer hold on the music, most of all in the low range. Loudspeakers whose impedance dips sharply at certain frequencies, often in the bass itself, benefit in particular, as do ported enclosures, which need firm control from the amplifier to give their best.
Despite its size the cable stays manageable, since the positive and negative legs sit in two separate round jackets. The conductors are solid, direction-controlled wires: there is no strand interaction, a source of transient intermodulation distortion, and RF noise is steered away from the sensitive circuits of the amplifier.
Insulation and noise dissipation
The higher-grade polypropylene insulation makes noise dissipation more linear and wider in bandwidth; by holding the conductors further apart it also eases distributed-capacitance distortions, which cause a harsh, unfocused sound. Carbon-loaded PVC in thicker layers, added graphene and shield drain wires with 4% silver bring dissipation to Level 7. The 72-volt DBS with RF Noise-Trap biases the dielectric and lowers its noise.
Terminations and lengths
Spades and bananas are red copper, cold-welded with a gas-tight joint and silver-plated by immersion; jackets, breakouts and plug bodies contain no metal. The U-Spade and the V-Spade are clamped under the binding-post nut and differ in the shape of the opening; the Multi-Spade is shaped for posts of different diameters; the Banana plugs into the hole of the post. Lengths: 2 m, 2.5 m, 3 m and 4 m.
