The new Audeze reference for closed-back headphones
The Audeze LCD-S20 mark a key step in the history of the Californian brand, bringing the renowned sonic signature of the LCD series to a closed-back configuration designed for professional use. They were created to offer neutral, faithful and controlled reproduction, while maintaining the effective isolation that is indispensable in settings such as live rooms, vocal booths and mobile production studios. The result is a pair of headphones that combines studio precision and operational practicality, with no compromise on sound quality.
Planar drivers and extended response
The LCD-S20 adopt 90 mm planar magnetic drivers with an ultra-thin Uniforce™ diaphragm, paired with Fluxor™ and Fazor™ technologies for control of the magnetic flux and of phase. This architecture guarantees a wide frequency response, from 10 Hz to 40 kHz, and an extremely transparent rendering across the entire spectrum. Distortion remains below 0.1% @ 100 dB SPL, ensuring stability, clarity and reliability even during long working sessions.
SLAM™: control and impact in the low range
A distinctive feature of the LCD-S20 is the innovative SLAM™ technology, designed to deliver bass that is deep, dynamic and perfectly controlled. The low frequencies are present and physical, yet always intelligible and well integrated with the mids and highs. This behaviour is particularly valuable in professional settings, where an accurate reading of kick drums, electric basses, synthesisers and soundtracks is essential for a correct mix.
Closed-back for tracking and critical environments
The closed structure ensures excellent passive attenuation of external noise and prevents any bleed into the microphones. The LCD-S20 thus become an ideal tool for vocal and instrumental tracking, editing and production in untreated rooms. Phase management via Fazor™ guarantees a precise impulse response and a stable sound image, even in the most complex mixes.
Professional comfort and premium construction
The frame combines magnesium, aluminium and steel, keeping the weight down to 550 g without sacrificing robustness. The thick, enveloping gel earpads distribute pressure evenly, while the adjustable leather suspension headband ensures constant comfort throughout entire working days. The option of connecting the cable on either side adds operational flexibility, particularly appreciated in professional studios.
