io was created to concentrate Rega amplifier circuit philosophy into a compact chassis. The power stage derives from the Brio platform and is configured to deliver 30 W per channel into 8 ohms, with a linear power supply and selected components to keep the signal path simple. The input section includes two line-level connections and an integrated MM phono stage, allowing direct connection of a turntable with moving-magnet cartridge without requiring an external phono preamplifier.

Amplification stage
The power stage uses a Class A/B configuration and Sanken output transistors, with a linear power supply sized for the available output. Volume is controlled by an Alps potentiometer. The design aims to preserve a direct electrical path and limit circuit complexity, retaining the character of Rega's amplifier family in a smaller format that is easy to integrate into a stereo system.
MM phono and inputs
The MM phono stage is built directly into the amplifier and sits alongside two line-level inputs. This allows a simple system to be built around a turntable and one or two additional sources, without external modules for moving-magnet cartridge playback. Controls remain deliberately simple, with source selection and volume adjustment on the front panel. This makes io well suited to streamlined stereo systems where reducing the number of boxes is desirable without losing a dedicated vinyl input.
Headphone listening
The front-panel headphone output takes its signal from the power-amplifier stage through dedicated relays. Switching is designed to prevent the headphone circuit from degrading the main signal path when not in use. Connecting headphones automatically mutes the loudspeakers, providing an integrated solution for private listening with conventional hi-fi headphones.
