The story of dual begins in the early 1900s, but has a significant boost in 1927, when the so-called "Dual-Motor" is introduced, a combination of a wind-up clock and an electric motor for the portable gramophones very popular at the time. The Dual Motor was so successful that the official brand name was derived from it. In the following years many cutting-edge models were introduced such as the Dual Turnable model and the first 78-disc changer: the Dual 1000 model.
Then followed Hifi Dual 1009 and Dual 1219 changers, which was the first turntable with a 30 cm diameter platter and arm with double universal joint bearing system. In 1973 the innovative fully automatic Dual 701 saw the light of day. It was the first direct drive electronic turntable made in Europe.
Today Dual continues to produce high quality turntables designed and tested in its own Dual Design Center where Classic Dual Design elements perfected over the decades are integrated into new products.
