Passionate about music, Mike himself had searched for a hi-fi system that was truly superior to the others; and always first-hand he had experienced the disappointment of seeing plants - of a high cost, break down before his eyes. How to get excellent performance and reliability guarantees from high-end electronics?
When Mike Viglas met David Reich, a talented young engineer building his own solid state amplifiers, he was immediately won over by the sound of David's amplifier and together they founded Classé.

"There must be something better." These were the words spoken by Mike Viglas in 1979, which set him on the road to collaborating with engineer David Reich and founding Classé Audio.
Mike Viglas and David Reich launched their first amplifier in 1980, the DR-2, 25 W operating in class A, which inspired the name of the new company. Other models followed and Classé quickly gained a reputation for both reliability and its open, natural and powerful sound.
Forty years later, Classé remains at the forefront of audio. The iconoclast and talented team of Classé Design in Montréal now has a global reach, and is bigger and more diverse than ever. Precision manufacturing at the legendary Shirakawa Audio Works in northern Japan allows today's Classé to deliver the performance and reliability Mike Viglas has always sought.
We think he'd be proud of what we've achieved.

The original and lauded DR-2 Classé amplifier was an unconventional product; a stereo amplifier of only 25W operating in Class A. It inspired the name of the company and inspired those music lovers lucky enough to own one. For many, it was as if they only really started listening to music after purchasing their first Classé amplifier. Today we have brought our distinctive and uncompromising approach to the new Delta series. |
